Socket docs

Socket is a set of Uniswap v4 hooks and an app on Robinhood Chain. These pages cover trading and providing liquidity in the app, how the hooks work, and how to build on Socket.

Socket is a set of Uniswap v4 hooks and an app, on Robinhood Chain. Every v4 pool lives in one contract, PoolManager, and may name one hook: a contract PoolManager calls at fixed points of every swap and liquidity change. The hook's address is part of the pool's key, and the lowest 14 bits of that address say which calls PoolManager makes. Both are fixed for the life of the pool.

Because every pool lives in PoolManager, a router that integrates v4 once reaches every pool, whatever hook it has. Any pool can name any hook, and a router can't tell a reviewed hook from one that isn't. Socket writes hooks for Robinhood Chain and keeps an on-chain allowlist of the hooks its app routes through. SOCKET holders vote that list, and a share of the LP fees in pools on Socket's hooks buys SOCKET and burns it.

Hooks in the app#

Build on Socket#

Worth knowing first#

  • Socket runs on Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum layer 2 with chain ID 4663. ETH pays gas.
  • v4 pools can trade native ETH as itself, without wrapping. USDG is the chain's dollar stablecoin; USDC bridged in arrives as USDG.
  • The app routes only through pools with no hook or a listed hook. A listed hook that isn't one of Socket's shows as External hook.
  • Pools on Socket's hooks keep a buyback share of the LP fees their positions collect, 20% today. A swap pays the pool's fee and nothing more.
  • Positions are ERC-721 tokens from PositionManager, so they transfer like any NFT.
  • A pool's hook, permissions and settings never change. A different setup is a new pool.
